Meet the Bookmobile

The Voyager

The Bookmobile was acquired through a grant from the Oregon State Library in 1998.  It is 25 feet long and was built by Ohio Bus Company on a school bus chassis.  It holds over 2,000 items, including books for all ages, VHS tapes, and audio cassette books.  The Bookmobile received its name, The Voyager, from a contest that was held among local school children at the time.

The Voyager makes monthly stops at various elementary schools, daycare centers, private schools, and retirement homes in Malheur County.  Books may be checked out from the Bookmobile with a current Ontario Library District library card. Adults and

children are welcome at all Bookmobile stops.  Please remember all library rules do apply. Patrons of the bookmobile may request items and make holds just as if they were visiting the main library building.  Bookmobile books can be returned to the main libraries in Ontario, Vale and Nyssa if patrons wish to do so.

There is no cost to use the Bookmobile. It is funded by the Ontario Library District and Malheur County Budgets.

If you have questions, comments or you would like make a request please contact the Library at 541-889-6371 or email at:
